Summary of Maryland Statutes (May 2002)
Maryland statutorily grants patients the right of access to their
medical records maintained by health care providers, health care
institutions, insurance entities, health maintenance organizations and
other specified entities. The state also restricts the disclosures of
confidential medical information made by these entities. Additionally,
privacy protections are addressed in statutes governing other specific
entities or medical conditions. Click here for the Maryland General Assembly Web site.
