Summary of Illinois Statutes (May 2002)
Illinois statutorily grants patients the right of access to their
medical records maintained by physicians, hospitals and insurers.
Illinois also statutorily prohibits the disclosure of confidential
medical information maintained by these entities. Additionally, there
are privacy protections addressed in statutes governing other specific
